How Amnesty International is Circumventing Our Government’s Checks and Balances

Pre-trial settlements are a shakedown

Amnesty International is behind the lawsuits filed by the illegal immigrants who were separated from their families during the Trump administration. They, along with other leftist groups, systematically use lawsuits to engage in “shakedowns” against governments or administrations friendly to leftist causes. These lawsuits are never intended to go to trial before a fair and impartial jury. They are filed in friendly jurisdictions to allow out-of-court settlements (which are kept confidential) and avoid scrutiny by Congress and the people.

Here is a disturbing section from Amnesty International’s own website about securing “remedies and relief” (i.e., money) by filing “strategic” lawsuits:

In late 2019, the ACLU filed a lawsuit in the US District Court for the District of Arizona. According to Forbes.com’s article “All The President’s Immigration Lawsuits”:

“The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed several lawsuits against the Trump administration’s asylum and border policies. The lawsuits include A.I.I.L. v. Sessions (“seeking damages on behalf of thousands of traumatized children and parents separated at the border)…”

Now Biden’s partisan DOJ is attempting to settle this lawsuit to the tune of a half-million per person. Estimates are that 7,600 families were separated. How much will this cost? At $1 million per family ( a conservative estimate) it will cost $75 billion. How much will Amnesty International get out of this payout? Are their lawyers on contingency and if so, what is their percentage? 30% of the settlement is a common norm for contingency fees. Does that mean that they will be getting $25 billion? If the United States wanted to give this kind of money to a non-governmental organization, it would certainly face intense scrutiny and debate in Congress.

If this case settles before going to trial by fair and impartial jury, we will never know how much taxpayer money was doled out in this illegal “shakedown”.
